Sports Academy targets youth development

Sports Academy will host a series of informative briefings on its Personal Development Year program for seventh- and eighth-grade students and their families from 10 to 11 a.m. Sat., June 17, 24 and July 1 Sports Academy, 1011 Rancho Conejo Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

The briefings are free to attend and include a short tour of the academy’s athletic and sports medicine facilities.

Students in the PDY program take a PDY year before entering high school, working with professional coaches and teachers to maximize their high school experience and prepare for college and possible college athletic opportunities.

Options to attending the PDY program full time will be discussed at the briefings.

Sports Academy’s program directors, coaches, and instructors will be on hand to talk to families about their academic, athletic and professional backgrounds and answer questions.

“Our program gives kids and their families the choice to take a year to focus on their athletics and academics before diving head-first into high school,” says Adam Sear, who directs the Personal Development Year program.

Sports Academy is a state-of-the-art athletic and human performance center in a 96,000-square-foot facility.

Participants are asked to preregister at www.sportsacademy.us/pdy or call (805) 669-7629.
