‘Voice’ talent at Malibu fundraiser
The Emily Shane Foundation presents its annual spring fundraiser event, Wings Over Malibu, at 6:30 p.m. Wed., April 26 at Casa Escobar in Malibu.
The evening will feature hand-crafted cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions and booths from area businesses.
The celebrity guest is Trinity Rose from NBC’s “The Voice.” At 13 years old, Trinity became the show’s youngest female contestant ever, beating out 40,000 other artists during casting.
The event will also have music is by DJ Orangabang, clairvoyant readings and a photo booth.
Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Emily Shane Foundation’s SEA (Successful Educational Achievement) program, an education nonprofit that provides struggling or failing middle school students throughout the Los Angeles and Ventura counties with mentoring and tutoring support.
The foundation was founded in memory of Emily Rose Shane, who was murdered on April 3, 2010 at the age of 13.
Following the girl’s death, her family reached out to others like Emily who experience the frustration of performing poorly despite their best efforts.
General admission tickets are $150. Millennials age 27 and under pay $50.
