Workshop on yoga, relaxation, meditation
The Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara will host a free workshop, “Introducing iRest Yoga Nidra,” from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.
The six-session special workshop, which has already started, will continue Wed., Feb. 22 and March 1, 15, 22 and 29. iRest Yoga Nidra meditation is a research-based practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry, which is used at VA hospitals, military bases, hospitals and clinics, hospices, homeless shelters, community programs and schools.
Research has shown that iRest effectively reduces PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and chemical dependency while increasing health, resiliency and well-being.
The workshop leader is Beth Hazelton, an iRest Yoga Nidra Level 1 teacher in training. She is also a RYT 200 (Yoga Alliance 200-hour registered yoga teacher), certified life coach and certified health coach.
