Hospital shows heart for women and their health
West Hills Hospital and Medical Center will host a Women and Heart community health event from 6 to 8 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 23 at the West Hills Hospital Cafe, 7300 Medical Center Drive.
Women will have the opportunity to learn tips about heart disease prevention.
The event will include a cooking demonstration on the value of nutrition and its impact on the heart. Samples will be served after the demonstration.
The guest presenters are Rabina Gill, M.D.; Ben Cohen, M.D., and dietitian Jaymar Saniatan. Chef Hector will present the cooking demonstration.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the U.S., according to a report for the American Heart Association.
The AHA also states that 80 percent of heart disease can be prevented by lifestyle changes and education.
