Calabasas wins America in Bloom competition

The award honors communities that have won a combination of at least three awards with various criteria over recent years.

The city has participated for four years and received various awards, including the highest recognition for excellence in floral displays in 2013 and an honorable mention for heritage preservation in 2016.

This year, Calabasas also won a Four Blooms Award for its efforts in landscaped areas.

In addition, Calabasas landscape manager, Heather Melton, was honored as a nominee for the 2016 John R. Holmes III Community Champion Award for her work in the community and its landscaped areas.

The America in Bloom competition promotes nationwide beautification through community involvement by encouraging the use of flowers, plants and trees. AIB is an independent nonprofit organization.
