La Reina names new head of school


Michael Bates Michael Bates La Reina High School announced the appointment of Michael Bates, EdD, as Head of School effective July 1. Bates was selected after a national search that brought forth a number of qualified candidates.

Bates has a doctorate in educational leadership for social justice from Loyola Marymount University. In addition he has a Master of Arts in pastoral studies from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in philosophy from the Catholic University of America.

Bates has more than 20 years of experience in Catholic secondary and higher education. He currently serves as assistant principal for student life at Louisville High School in Woodland Hills.

La Reina is a Catholic, college preparatory junior and senior high school for girls in grades seven through 12. The school was established in 1964 and sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame.
