Unitarians waive fees for same-sex weddings
The Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will waive its sanctuary rental fee for gay and lesbian couples who are wed at the church as same-sex marriages resume in California.
The Rev. Lora Brandis, minister of the church in Newbury Park, will also waive her fee to perform the ceremony for gay couples who are not members of the congregation.
The church will waive the fees for six months from the date that same-sex marriages officially can resume in the state.
The charges will be waived because of the U.S. Supreme Court decisions on June 26 regarding marriage equality.
State and county officials have told news outlets that gay marriages could resume in the state in 30 to 60 days.
