Challenge yourself at Spartan Sprint Race
Thousands of participants are expected for the Spartan Sprint Race on Sat., Nov. 19 at Calamigos Ranch, 327 S. Latigo Canyon Road, Malibu.
The race is a fun 3-mile obstacle course where racers can challenge themselves and measure their performance against others across the globe. The race is designed to test participants’ resilience, strength and stamina. Course details are held in secrecy until race day.
Competitors include all types—men, women, students and seniors—from beginners to hardcore warriors and marathon runners.
This is the 27th obstacle racing event in the international Spartan Race Series that began in Burlington, Vt. in 2010.
The first wave of racers will start at 6 a.m. with the Elite Heat taking place at 8 a.m. Heats follow every half hour until the final night heat with head lamps take off at 5 p.m.
The event will include a Spartan Race Kids Course to raise money for Rod Dixon’s KiDSMARATHON Foundation, a registered educational-services public charity founded by Olympian and New York Marathon winner Rod Dixon. More than 150 children are expected to participate in this race at 12:15 p.m.
The day-long race will culminate with a festival with beer and games.
The Spartan Obstacle Race Series includes the Sprint (3 miles with +10 obstacles), the Super (8 miles with +15 obstacles), the Beast (10 to 12 miles) and the Spartan Death Race.
A portion of all money raised in the adult Spartan Race Series will go to building a home through Homes For Our Troops, a national nonprofit that assists severely injured servicemen and servicewomen and their immediate families by donating funds, building materials and professional labor for building a home.
