Recalling Oak Park’s history
Residents Harvey Kern, David E. Ross, Derek Ross and Harry Medved will host an inuagural “Oak Park History Night” from at 7 p.m. on Tues., June 21, at the Oak Park Public Library.
August marks the 45th anniversary of the first Oak Park homes, and the three men, who are preparing a book about the community’s history, are looking for rare photos from Oak Park’s past, especially any shots from the 1960s and 1970s.
Old Jordan Ranch, anyone?
It’s part of a community-wide effort that the co-authors have dubbed “The Oak Park History Project.” Other history-gathering sessions are expected to follow.
The three hope to publish their book, “Oak Park, California,” by the end of the year.
Also to be shown at the June 21 meeting are clips of several recent films shot in Oak Park, including “ Role Models,” with Paul Rudd, “ Just Go With It,” starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, and “Faster” starring Billy Bob Thornton.
Copies of Harry Medved’s earlier book, “Location Filming in Los Angeles” will be on sale at the event with all proceeds going to the Oak Park Library.
