Track greats advance to state meet

The following area student-athletes have qualifi ed for the CIF State Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at Buchanan High’s Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis:

• Oaks Christian’s 4x100 boys’ relay team featuring Ronny Camacho, Terry Lee Johnson, Ishmael Adams and Vinnie Saucer

• Oaks Christian’s 4x400 girls’ relay team featuring Ally Courtnall, Megan Huning, Abby King and Danielle Alakija

• Johnathan Cabral, senior, Agoura, boys’ 110 and 300 hurdles

• Morgan Thompson, senior, Newbury Park, girls’ 400-meter dash

• Vinnie Saucer, sophomore, Oaks Christian, boys’ 100-meter dash

• Megan Thompson, senior, Newbury Park, girls’ 800-meter run

• Ally Courtnall, senior, Oaks Christian, girls’ 200-meter dash

• Sarah Baxter, freshman, Simi Valley, girls’ 3,200-meter run

• Heyden Wooff, senior, Camarillo, boys’ 3,200-meter run

• Reagan Nizdil, sophomore, Rio Mesa, girls’ high jump

• Phillip Hanley, senior, Thousand Oaks, boys’ high jump

• Connor Stark, junior, Oak Park, boys’ pole vault

Notes: Agoura’s Cabral is the national leader in the boys’ 110 and 300 hurdles. He won both events during last weekend’s CIF-Southern Section Track and Field Masters Meet at Cerritos College in Norwalk.

Cabral’s wind-aided mark of 13.27 seconds in the 110 at Masters was the fastest time ever recorded under any conditions in state history.

Baxter, the Simi Valley freshman, blew away the girls’ 3,200 field at Masters with a time of 10:24.35.
