Science students shine

STEPHANIE BERTHOLDO/Acorn Newspapers Shruti Aggarwal, an eighthgrader at Medea Creek Middle School in Oak Park, wasn’t the only student to gain recognition at the Ventura County Science Fair.

At the Oak Park Unified School District Board of Education meeting on May 17, all of the winning science fair competitors were recognized for their outstanding efforts at the science fair.

Special Awards

Billy Follett, sixth grade— Air and Waste Management Association ($75).

Jonah Li- Paz, seventh grade— American Petroleum Institute ($100).

Roopa Chandra, seventh grade—Society of Women Engineers (Honorable Mention).

Division Awards

Emily Markarian, seventh grade—third place, Animal Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Emma Berns, eighth grade— first place, Human Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Shruti Aggarawl, eighth grade—second place, Human Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Anthony Lanuza, seventh grade— third place, Amgen Biochemistry.
