Track and field records continue to tumble
Oak Park High senior Cameron Stevens broke an 18-yearold track and field school record during a recent Tri-Valley League meet against Carpinteria.
Stevens’ 22.16-second time in the boys’ 200-meter dash eclipsed the previous mark of 22.20 set by Sean McDonald in 1983.
Stevens was featured in The Acorn’s March 17 issue.
Colella goes big
Luigi “Gino” Colella, a freshman at Westlake, pole vaulted 14 feet, 7 inches during a Marmonte League dual meet on April 14.
Colella broke Michael Phipps’ 29-year-old school record by an inch.
According to his pole vault coach, Colella’s 14-7 mark is the top vault for a California freshman this season and the second-best result in the nation for his grade.
Cabral stays hot
Agoura junior Johnathan Cabral continued his hot streak during last weekend’s Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut.
Cabral won the boys’ 110- and 300-meter hurdle races.
His mark of 13.48 seconds in the 110 was a meet record. Cabral claimed the 300 title in 37.49.
