Oak Park lacrosse squad caps perfect regular season
Sommer Kobashigawa tallied four goals and Robin Estrin added three scores as the Oak Park Eagles girls’ club lacrosse team beat El Segundo, 16-11, Sunday to complete its second consecutive undefeated regular season.
Each team competed with only seven girls on the field instead of the customary 11 because of a shortage of El Segundo players.
Playing a wide open game and facing few defenders, Oak Park’s Brianna Mackey, Jennifer Maholchic, Isabel Schroeter and Brittany Stalzer had two goals apiece.
Savanna Brown scored once for the Eagles (11-0).
Oak Park’s first-half goalkeeper, Callie Hughes, saved five goals while allowing five. Jade Flores-Henderson took over goal in the second half and blocked seven attempts while allowing six El Segundo scores.
Oak Park travels to Glendale High on Sunday for its opening playoff game.
