Cyclist was rude

I recognize that bicyclists are entitled to the same privileges of road use as motor vehicles. There are thoughtless motorists out there who make turns directly in front of bikers or who in other ways violate their right of way. However, most bicyclists that I have seen barely slow down for stop signs and, even worse, run red lights just because the coast is clear.

The most flagrant violations have occurred at the intersection of Agoura Road and Reyes Adobe, where on several occasions I have witnessed eastbound cyclists blow through the red light without so much as a pretense of slowing down, simply because this is a Tintersection.

On one day a female rider decked out in cyclist attire actually blew past me as I was waiting for a green arrow on Agoura Road, turning left on the red arrow, then ran the next red light on Reyes Adobe heading north crossing the eastbound 101 onramp. Of course there was no law enforcement in the area to write this scofflaw up.

I have a few friends who were cited for the minor technical violation of entering a rightturn lane a few yards too soon on Kanan, crossing into the bike lane when it was unoccupied.

If L.A. County wishes to increase revenues, simply have a unit parked near Agoura Road and Reyes Adobe to catch these dangerous red-light runners.

If I ever witness an auto versus bike accident where a cyclist runs a stop sign or a red light, I will readily volunteer to testify as a certainty that the cyclist was 100 percent at fault so that no matter how seriously that rider is injured they will not be able to collect one cent from the fault-free vehicle operator's insurance company.
