Flu clinic very smoothly run
      My family just got back from the Calabasas flu vaccination clinic, and I have to say it was one of the most professionally and organized events I have ever been to.

Saddened by local tree’s demise
      I was deeply moved to read the letter by Edith and Ed Nir of Calabasas in The Acorn of Nov. 5 about “Tree Given the Ax.” The letter could have been written by author, poet, musician Shel Silverstein, for it brought to memory his 1965 children’s book “The Giving Tree.”

Water rate woes
      My family and I realize that California is in the midst of a severe water crisis. For example, we applaud the efforts by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to conserve water by charging a higher rate on water use over and above a mandatory 15 percent cutback based on last year’s usage.

Wants to set the record straight
      The Acorn ran a story, “Hardware thieves locked up,” in which I was identified as one of two thieves by a spokesperson for the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station who released contents of the incident report to The Acorn .
