Close call for pooch in coyote attack


RECUPERATING—Napoleon, a 2-1/2 year old dachshund, recovers from an attack by a coyote in his backyard on Park Alisal in Calabasas Park. The coyote leaped over a fence and tried to haul Napoleon away, but failed. According to owner Jane Chaudron, the coyote returned the next day and attempted to snatch the dog’s mother. BARRIER—Napoleon’s  attacker  used  adjacent  brush  and jumped this fence. High chain link fencing is the best defense against coyotes, although any pet left outdoors remains at risk.
