Shomrei Torah welcomes new rabbi
Festivities include musical Shabbat, picnic
Shomrei Torah Synagogue invites the community to meet Rabbi Erez Sherman, the congregation's new assistant rabbi, at a dairy picnic dinner and musical Shabbat service under the stars at 6:30 p.m. Fri., July 31 at the synagogue, 7353 Valley Circle Blvd., West Hills.
Sherman is a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. His graduation thesis was titled "Music in The Synagogue in the 21st Century."
At his ordination in May he was awarded the United Synagogue Award for Congregational Service.
Sherman is a native of Syracuse, NY. He is engaged to Rabbi Nicole Guzik of Sinai Temple.
Sherman is the son of Rabbi Charles and Leah Sherman. His father served as spiritual leader of Temple Adath Yeshurun in Syracuse, NY for 33 years.
