Westlake's John Notter named institute chair

John Notter John Notter John Notter of Westlake Village was recently appointed chairman of the board of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Switzerland.

Notter, who owns the Westlake Village Inn, Bogies and Mediterraneo in Westlake Village, has served on the foundation's board since 2006. Notter help start the organization almost 40 years ago when he worked for Daniel K. Ludwig as CFO of the D.K. Ludwig Group and chairman of the board of American Hawaiian Steamship Co., which developed the city of Westlake Village.

Ludwig Institute is a global, nonprofit organization that integrates laboratory and clinical research with a focus on applications for human benefit. It has laboratory and clinical trial sites across Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America. The group's corporate offices are in New York and in Zurich, Switzerland.

Ludwig has spent more than $1.5 billion on cancer research since its inception in 1971.

Notter also serves on the board of directors for the Conrad Hilton Foundation.
