Shetland All-Stars make World Series
     PLAYING FOR THE RING—The Shetland All-Star team from Westlake Baseball Association will compete in this weekend's Shetland World Series at Simi Valley after securing a regional title at Valencia. Westlake went undefeated in its regional tournament, beating host Hart in the finale. Baseball event to benefit ALS research
      The fifth annual Strike Out Lou Gehrig's Disease All-Star Tournament will be held July 23-26 at 11 baseball fields throughout Thousand Oaks. The tournament, which is expected to draw about 40 teams to the area, is co-hosted by Conejo Valley and Thousand Oaks Little League organizations.

      Michael Lorenzo is the Peaceful Bull. The senior-to-be left tackle for the Westlake High football team has a tattoo on his left arm with a bull and the word, "Paix," which is French for peaceful, he said. "A lot of guys get riled up and angry before a game," Lorenzo said. "I just try to stay focused.

      Kushaal Tadepalli of Calabasas has qualified for the Bantam shot put at the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympic Championships, to be held July 28 through Aug. 2 at Greensboro, N.C.

Apex '95s rise to the top
