Westlake, Agoura and Calabasas competing in Valley Invitational Baseball League
      Royal High third baseman Billy Conard views summer baseball as an opportunity to establish himself as a team leader for the Highlanders. Dalton Saberhagen, a pitcher for the Calabasas Coyotes, is focused on winning each and every game his squad plays, thus helping to craft a positive culture around the CHS program for the 2010 regular season.

All-Stars set to shine
      The Valley Invitational Baseball League will play a pair of All-Star games Saturday at Birmingham High. Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Local participants include Chad Clark, Garrett Garner and Mark Seyler of Agoura; Taylor Kahanowitch and Blake Yuckurt from Westlake; and Alex Rubanowitz and Travis Cassidy of Calabasas.

Surf Point Mugu, get barreled
      The second annual Point Mugu Surf Contest is scheduled for Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, and everyone is invited. Registration for the event is open through July 17. The contest takes place Aug. 22-23. The event is open to the public to enter and watch. The official entry form is on the NBVC website at www.cnic.navy.

USA Water Polo roster set for World Championships
      USA Water Polo Men's Senior National Team head coach Terry Schroeder, a Westlake resident, has announced the 14-man roster for the 2009 FINA World Championships scheduled to begin July 20 at Rome, Italy. The roster contains 11 Olympians, including 10 members of the 2008 silver medalwinning squad from the Beijing Olympics.
