Local students shine in college

The following local students received academic honors at their respective colleges.

•Janie Zeidel of Calabasas graduated in May from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Music in vocal studies. She is a 2005 graduate of Calabasas High School.

•Calabasas resident Sayan Basu made the dean's list for spring semester 2009 at the Georgia Institute of Technology, also known as Georgia Tech. Undergraduate students earning a 3.0 or higher academic average may receive this honor.

•Calabasas residents Lena Bardovi and Marisa Fair both were named to the dean's list for 2009 spring semester at Northeastern University in Boston. Bardovi is majoring in liberal arts-science and Fair is a music major.

Students must carry at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.25 or greater and carry no grade lower than a C for this honor.

•Bree Bowman of Calabasas and Matt Tominaga of Oak Park were both listed on the 2009 spring semester dean's list at their school, the University of Portland in Oregon.

Bowman is a freshman sociology major. Tominaga is a freshman with an undeclared major.

Students need at least a 3.5 grade point average to make the dean's list.
