      A photography exhibit titled "The Big Picture: was presented by Oaks Christian School's advanced Location Photography class on May 28 at the Westlake school. The free exhibit showcased the work of 10 high school photography students.

      The following local students received academic honors at their respective colleges. •Janie Zeidel of Calabasas graduated in May from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Music in vocal studies. She is a 2005 graduate of Calabasas High School.

Johns Hopkins honors gifted students
     SCHOLARS—Above, Ashwin Shinde, Nicholas Billig and Nancy Liu and, left, Devika Chandramohan, all students at Medea Creek Middle School in Oak Park, are honored at a statewide awards ceremony hosted by The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. The seventh and eighthgrade students performed exceptionally well on the SAT and ACT tests, the same tests taken by high school students for college admission. The young scholars were invited to California State University, Los Angeles on May 30 to receive their awards.

      Atomix Sports Performance is teaming with the city of Agoura Hills to provide Nike SPARQ Training for their summer Speed and Agility camps. Participants will receive an objective measurement of their athletic skills, and the tools to improve their athletic performance.

      The Conejo Valley YMCA, Triunfo YMCA and Simi Valley Family YMCA will offer teen summer camps through August 21. •The Conejo Valley YMCA serving Thousand Oaks and Moorpark and the Simi Valley Family YMCA are both hosting Teen Extreme day camps for sixth- through eighth-graders.

Synagogue program to help youngsters with social skills
      Temple Adat Elohim Early Childhood Center in Thousand Oaks and educator Penni Seller present a program called Social Skills for Preschoolers designed to facilitate social interactions and turn taking for children ages 3 to 5 and also to expand their interests and develop peer relationships.
