Local grads excel

Caitlin Gomez Agoura High School graduate Caitlin Gomez, curently a student at the UCLA School of Medicine, has been awarded a mentoring scholarship from Kaiser Permanente for her commitment to providing quality care to Southern California's diverse patient population.

Gomez will receive a $5,000 scholarship for her education.

Cadet First Class Anthony James Myers of Oak Park graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in government.

Myers' first tour of duty will be as a deck watch officer on the Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell in Alameda, Calif. He is the son of Jim and Debbie Myers formerly of Oak Park.
