Feminism at Sumac I attended the fifth-grade graduation ceremonies at Sumac Elementary School in Agoura Hills last Wednesday. All the graduating fifthgraders were assigned the task of writing an essay describing their experiences as students at Sumac. I was somewhat taken aback when all four essays selected to be read as part of the proceedings were authored by female students exclusively. My observation did not escape the eyes of other parents present. Shortly thereafter students were recognized for their scholastic excellence and awarded a presidential citation. The mix was pretty much a split between male and female students. I find it difficult to believe that not one male student had the ability to write an acceptable essay for presentation. I firmly believe this is a manifestation of an endemic problem in our schools wherein young males are systemically discriminated against because their natural male proclivities are offensive to and systematically suppressed by the largely feminist-run public elementary schools. Christina Hoff Summer's book "The War Against Boys: How Misguided Feminism is Harming Our Young Men," accurately describes what I experienced at Sumac. Jerry Cutler Calabasas |
