Former Coyote standout drafted by White Sox
Yallen likely to forgo pro ball, attend college
      Don't blink or Jordan Yallen might be gone. The Calabasas resident is the first student-athlete from Golden Valley High at Santa Clarita to be selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, getting picked earlier this month by the Chicago White Sox in the 47th round.

More locals have names called by MLB
      Jordan Yallen wasn't the only local athlete to be selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Three former Agoura High standouts were chosen, including pitcher/catcher Robert Stock (No. 67, St. Louis Cardinals), pitcher Jason Stoffel (No. 117, San Francisco Giants) and catcher Richard Stock (No. 1,366, Milwaukee Brewers).

      Tyler Schwanz of Oak Park High is the Tri-Valley League Player of the Year in boys' golf. Schwanz, a junior, averaged a team-best 77.6 score for the Eagles this spring.

Titans have a tournament to remember

Kneller, Magorien earn CIF volleyball awards
      Postseason honors continue to pour in for top local boys' volleyball players. This time, the CIF-Southern Section recently released its allsection teams. Westlake High outside hitter Jake Kneller is the Player of the Year for the All-CIF Southern Section Division II boys' volleyball team.

Conejo Oaks back in the swing of things
      They've given up summer freedom in the name of baseball, and they wouldn't have it any other way. The Conejo Oaks, a collection of some of the area's top baseball talent, be it in college or just leaving high school, is in its fourth season competing in the five-team California Collegiate League.

Edwards takes over CHS football team
      The Coyotes didn't look far to find their next football coach. On the same day Lance Martin resigned from his position as Calabasas High varsity football head coach, athletic director Larry Edwards was selected by school administrators to take control of the program.
