Barnyard baby's first steps

JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers EASY DOES IT—A newborn Texas longhorn calf named Cyd Charisse attempts to stand up for the first time under the watchful eyes of mom Ginger Rogers, right, and bull Fred Astaire at the Leonis Adobe Ranch in Calabasas recently. Ginger, a new resident in the barnyard, was already pregnant when she came to the adobe from Santa Ynez. The calf was born around 2:30 p.m. on June 7.
