Viewpoint counselors help prepare students for college
      The college counselors at Viewpoint School have helped this year's class of more than 100 graduates gain acceptance into some of the nation's top universities. Rhody Davis, director of college counseling, and counselors Stephanie Shapiro and Amanda Fitts worked as university admissions officers before joining the Calabasas private school.

Viewpoint scholar, athlete heads to Stanford
      A scholar, athlete and humanitarian, Kian Torabian's breadth of experience at Viewpoint School in Calabasas has landed him a spot on the Stanford University freshman class roster. Kian is a National Merit Commended Scholar for top SAT scores, an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor and a University of California Scholar.

Alternative schools help students soar
      The Oak Park Independent Study program has made it possible for Rachel Borbas to pursue her passions in dance, theater and forensics. The 18-year-old daughter of Cindy and Marc Borbas has danced lead roles with the Conejo Civic Ballet Company, choreographed a Moorpark College theater production and earned a silver medal in a national forensics competition.

      Susan Allen's responsibilities at Oak View High School include teaching math, English, computers, college prep, even stained glass design. Rarely is there a moment's rest for the teacher at the alternative high school in Oak Park, but Allen sees the bright side.

      A high achiever with top grades, Jules Sharpe, 17, is a scholar athlete who is on the Headmaster's List and whose favorite class at Oaks Christian High School was AP physics because of the many labs and activities.

CSI camp turn kids into detectives
      Teen CSI Camp, a new summer program for local teens, will offer participants the chance to learn tried-and-true detective techniques straight from the sheriff's department. CSI stands for crime scene investigation. The weeklong camp is being offered through a partnership between the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station and the Agoura Hills recreation department.
