Flaunting the law
On July 1, 2008, the highly publicized California wireless communications device law went into effect. But you wouldn't know it driving around Oak Park, Agoura and Westlake. The law says you can't talk on the phone while driving unless you use a hands-free device.

Meals on Wheels thankful for The Acorn's subscription drive
As 30year Agoura Hills residents, we have enjoyed The Acorn as it keeps us informed on all the local news and businesses that support the community. For over 20 years we have been Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers enjoying every minute of this important service to Agoura and Westlake residents.

Points of view
In regards to how The Acorn could print opinion letters that don't match the opinions of others, too bad. I have noticed that the people of "tolerance" can only tolerate their own opinions.

Protect the rights of the minority
Can someone please explain to me why the government should deny a group of people the right to be married? Freedom to practice any religion (including no religion) is a fundamental right of our country. I fully respect the role religion plays and would never expect a church that teaches that homosexuality is a sin to perform a samesex marriage.

One side of the debate wants the other muzzled
Several letters to the editor bitterly complained about a previous anti-homosexual letter. These writers expressed outrage and some felt this letter should never have been published. Does the other side have any voice in America today?

Looks who's the prejudiced one
"Homosexuality is a 'drain' on society" is the title of a convoluted write up of Mr. W.O. Felsman of Woodland Hills, a mix up of ideas with Biblical citations and DNA science to tell us that he did not like homosexuals, with the single-minded idea that homosexuality is all about fornication.

Not everyone is comfortable with homosexuality
Maybe ignorance is assuming readers only want to hear one point of view in the opinion section. Maybe ignorance is not knowing many people feel homosexuality is a gender identity problem and environment plays a huge role in its development.

Gays, illegals and other issues
Overall, I cannot fathom the new media's constant public garment rending and gnashing of teeth over the economy. Of course the economy is falling apart. It is a blatant result of overpopulation. There are too many people and not enough of everything for everyone.

Take action against cell tower
Raising a child today is like navigating a perilous obstacle course. Don't we want to know if the cigarette smoke from a friend could cause lung cancer in our kids? Don't we want to know lead paint on toys could cause irreversible brain damage?

Just a little 'thank you' would be nice
For the past six years I willingly and enthusiastically devoted my time to volunteer as a poll worker for the local, state and federal elections held here in Agoura. Along with carrying out my civic privileges, these election days allow me to interface with community residents and reconnect with my fellow poll workers.

May 19 voters delivered message loud and clear
Apparently I have given California politicians more credit for having brains than they deserve. I thought their priorities to cut fire, police and education as a first priority was just a scare tactic to get the taxpayers to vote for their propositions.
