May 19 letter an attack on gays
In response to last week's letter, "Homosexuality is a drain on society," I just can't believe that people would go out of their way flaunt their ignorance. Donna Schwartz Woodland Hills

Objects to publication
I can't believe, that of all the letters you receive in a week you would choose to print the letter titled "Homosexuality is a 'drain' on society." I understand that everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but not everyone needs to be heard.

I am all for letters to the editor that express opinions that are different. I think open, intelligent discourse is good for society, even if I don't agree with it. It's your turn to speak
Just as physical exercise is good for the body, First Amendment exercise is good for democracy. The Acorn Letters to the Editor section gives you an excellent op portunity to put your freedom of speech to work by voicing opinions, thoughts and concerns on any matter you wish.
