      The Oak Park and Oaks Christian high school baseball teams are taking scenic routes in pursuit of a section championship. Oak Park travels to Palm Desert for today's CIF-Southern Section Division IV first-round matchup, while Oaks Christian heads to Santa Fe Springs.

      Marmonte League boys' volleyball teams continue to make tons of noise in the CIFSouthern Section Division II postseason. Four Marmonte squads— Agoura, Royal, Thousand Oaks and Westlake—won secondround matches Tuesday night to advance to Friday's quarterfinal round.

      The Westlake High girls' swim team reached a familiar pinnacle last weekend. With only seven swimmers, the Warriors won the CIFSouthern Section Division II swimming finals with 178.5 points at Belmont Plaza at Long Beach.

Coyotes bounced from Division I tennis bracket
     IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers GAME, SET, MATCH—Calabasas High's Cyrus Rais attempts to track down a return shot near the net during Monday's CIFSouthern Section Division I boys' tennis playoff match at home against University. Following a strong regular season and firstround victory, the Coyotes were unable to get past University in Round 2, losing 13-5. In Division III quarterfinal action Tuesday, Oaks Christian was upended by Claremont, 17-1.

Track and field's finest advance to Cerritos meet
      The CIF-Southern Section Track and Field Divisional Championships take place Saturday at Cerritos College. Top local athletes to watch for in the Division II events include Agoura High's Kevin Graf (boys' shot put), Newbury Park's Raven Chavanne (girls' 100, 200 and 4x100 relay) and Thousand Oaks' Allie Lopez (girls' 800, 1,600 and 4x400 relay).

Agoura lacrosse teams will join CIF

      Parentdirected "club" lacrosse teams will be transformed into an official California Interscholastic Federation sport at Agoura High next year. Junior varsity and varsity teams were approved by the Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education on May 12.
