Oak Park couple honored for service

Fred and Marsha Wolinsky Fred and Marsha Wolinsky Fred and Marsha Wolinsky will be honored for their leadership by the Foundation for Fighting Blindness, Los Angeles Chapter on Tue., May 12 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The Oak Park couple became involved in the nonprofit organization to support their daughter, Jessie, 16, who suffers from retinitis pigmentosa, an inherited, incurable eye disease that causes the retina to degenerate and leads to progressive loss of vision.

The Wolinskys have raised thousands of dollars for eye disease research through the foundation's annual 5K VisionWalk held at the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Wolinsky family says it wants to inspire others to support the cause.

"As parents, having the opportunity to make a difference and improve the course of our daughter's life with RP is the greatest gift we could receive," Marsha Wolinsky said.
