Heschel West jog-athon called success
      On April 29 from 9:30 until 11 a.m., the children at Heschel West Day School in Agoura had an important reason to keep on running. The transitional kindergarten through fifth-graders had made a commitment to help those in need by participating in the annual jog-athon in celebration of Israel's 61st Independence Day, Yom Ha'Atzmaut.

      •Rachel L. Saeby of Calabasas has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. •Michelle Davidson of Calabasas recently earned a doctorate in physical therapy at Arcadia University.

Asking for more money
      In recent weeks, I've received phone calls and e-mails from many happy students who've been admitted to their favorite colleges. Many of them have also been awarded generous merit scholarships or financial aid packages.

Born Learners honors teacher
      Teacher Deidre Hayward is retiring in June from Born Learners School of Agoura Hills. She has taught at the school for 24 years. The school is planning a tribute to Hayward in conjunction with the annual open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thurs., April 30.
