Teen impressed by DUI program
      Being a senior in high school, you really do think you're invincible. But seeing the "Every 15 Minutes" program changed my perspective on the dangers of drinking and driving. It's so great to see the community get together and do something that really benefits the young adults.

Clear the smoke
      Just to be clear: My recent letter to The Acorn suggesting that we all take a deep breath and stop demonizing marijuana never once suggested that kids should smoke weed. What I did say is that marijuana is simply another inebriant, just like legal and "acceptable" alcohol, but with less propensity to result in reckless or violent behavior.

Argument shot full of holes
      Apparently Keith F. Cornell ("Guns gone awry") is under the false impression that the Bill of Rights is an old and dusty piece of paper that has no relevance in today's world. He erroneously stated that it was written in 1776 when actually it was introduced by James Madison in 1789—but why let facts cloud the argument.

Here's the scoop
      Almost every day, I take our big yellow dog Eleanor for a long walk around Oak Park. We've lived here for almost 40 years and it's a beautiful community. The one thing that really ruins a nice walk is the amount of dog poop along parkways, hiking paths and even in the middle of the sidewalk.

Scary incident
      My family and I recently went to Latigo Kid restaurant in Agoura for dinner. My dad wasn't feeling well but wanted to come to dinner with all his grandchildren and his kids. Dinner came and was great. Just before we finished my dad turned pale and we thought he was having a heart attack but he wasn't.

Plumbing business comes through
      I am writing this letter to The Acorn to sing the praises of a local plumbing supply company by the name of Leif Ball in Westlake Village. When my husband and I arrived home from a short vacation, we discovered that our hot water tank was not working. The pilot light kept going out, which would leave us with no hot water.
