Together, with feeling
      Many years ago I heard one of my teachers tell a story about compassion that I would like to share with you. In these difficult times, I think it's a great reminder for all of us. Once upon a time, while swimming along the bottom of a lake, a school of fish paused to look up to see what all the commotion was about.

Armenian genocide remembered
      The Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County in conjunction with St. Patrick's Episcopal Church will host an ecumenical joint prayer and commemoration of the 94th anniversary of the Armenian genocide on Sun., April 26 at St. Patrick's church, One Church Road, Thousand Oaks.

Hoping the sadness comes to an end
     DOING SOMETHING—Calabasas teen Carlie Richman presents Jewish World Watch founder Janice Kamenir-Reznik with donations she collected to help end the Darfur genocide as Rabbi Paul Kipnes looks on. On March 20, Congregation Or Ami presented a service in which artists, musicians, sculptors and writers illustrated the theme "Stop Genocide Now."

Holocaust victims honored in separate events
      •Temple Beth Haverim will host the annual Yom HaShoah v'HaGevurah (Holocaust and Heroism Day) service at 7 p.m. Mon., April 20 at 29900 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills. The service is a remembrance of the 6 million Jewish people who were killed in Nazi death camps.

Creationist author to speak in Newbury Park
      Ken Ham, founder of the Creation Museum, will discuss "The Relevance of Genesis in Today's World" on Sun., April 19 at Calvary Chapel Thousand Oaks, 2697 Lavery Court, Newbury Park. Ham, author of "Darwin's Plantation" and "The Lie: Evolution," will speak during the church's 9 and 11 a.m. services.
