Hockey great makes a pitch for baseball
KAREN HOOPER/Special to the Acorn BATTER UP—Oaks Christian parent Wayne Gretzky throws out a first pitch at the April 3 dedication of the school's new $500,000 baseball stadium. Allison Sprague, Tara Tyrell, Wayne and Janet Gretzky and Russ McFaden were among the donors present at the dedication of Oaks Christian High School's new baseball stadium complex earlier this month.
They were joined by Westlake Village Council member Ned Davis, Westlake Village Baseball Association board member John Donovan, and the school's varsity players who received ceremonial "first pitches" from the donors.
The stadium cost more than $500,000 and includes new concession stand, press box, locker rooms and bleacher seating for 600.
Longtime L.A. Dodgers announcer and Westlake Village resident Ross Porter was on hand to emcee the event.
