Seeking quality hospital care
      I have just returned home after having open heart surgery at Los Robles Hospital. What makes this a hospital are the people, all the way from the doctors, nurses and their support groups down to the cleaners. The problem is with the corporation that manages the hospital. For-profit corporations should not be controlling hospitals.

      I was disappointed to see that The Acorn didn't cover the Oak Park Water Conservation Workshop on March 21. There, Owen Dell, a highly regarded expert on sustainable landscaping, informed residents about actions they could take to make their gardens more California friendly.

Jewish references not appropriate
      In the April 2 edition of The Acorn, Ms. Groff wrote a front page story titled, "SEC charges Calabasas donor in $17-million fraud case." First, what was the legitimate news purpose, need or relevance to write that Mr. Friedman is a member of Congregation Or Ami, and hence by clear inference was Jewish? We see absolutely none.

Spring omen
      A good omen happened outside my backyard patio door this first of April. After awakening to a power failure which dark ened several neighborhoods north of Kanan Road/Thousand Oaks Boulevard, who knew what the day would bring.
