Calabasas names Jonathon Wolfson new mayor
Groveman becomes mayor pro tem
Jonathon Wolfson Jonathon Wolfson was named the new mayor of Calabasas at a City Council reorganizational meeting March 25.
A new mayor and mayor pro tem are elected each year by the five members of the City Council during its annual reorganization.
Councilmember Barry Groveman was sworn in as the new mayor pro tem.
Wolfson won his second, fouryear term on the Calabasas City Council in the municipal election of March 3.
"I am very excited about becoming the mayor of Calabasas," Wolfson said. "I look forward to this year and pledge that I will do my best to enhance our community and help Calabasas remain one of the premier cities in which to live and work in Southern California."
Mary Sue Maurer steps down as mayor, but remains a City Council member.
Like Wolfson, Maurer begins a second, four-year term.
Judge Stephen Phahler and retired judge Ralph Erickson gave the two their oath of office.
Also at the meeting, the results from last month's municipal election were made official. James Bozajian was the top vote-getter followed by Maurer and Wolfson.
Barry Groveman Bozajian, who is beginning his fourth term on the council, was given his oath by Judge Martin Herscovitz.
