GATE students go on winning Odyssey
      Forty Gifted and Talented (GATE) students from the fourthand fifth grades at White Oak Elementary School in Westlake Village traveled to Pasadena on March 7 to participate in the Odyssey of the Mind educational tournament.

Grants available to benefit women
      The Ventura County Community Foundation's Women's Legacy Fund annual grants program is accepting grant proposals. Submission deadline is 5 p.m. Fri., May 15. This is an endowed grantmaking fund to support nonprofit programs focused on the economic, education, physical, emotional, social, artistic and personal growth of women and girls in Ventura County.

Learn the sport of curling
      SoCal Curling Club will host a curling open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Sat., March 28 at Iceoplex, 131 W. Easy St., Simi Valley. Attendees will learn how to curl. All equipment is provided. Curling is a Winter Olympics sport played on ice. There is no skating involved.
