City takes note of economy's bad signs

      The Agoura Hills City Council is once again reviewing ordinances covering banner signs, sandwich board advertisements, outdoor displays and other types of signage in an effort to ease restrictions on businesses that are facing tough economic times.

Rotarians look at youth ethics
      Jason and Brandon play soccer for their high school team. The school has a strict policy of no cussing during games. Brandon, a star player and team captain, is upset by a referee's call and yells out a profanity. The referee thinks it was Jason and orders the wrong player to leave the field and bars him from playing in the next game.

      Longtime Mountain High skiers might recognize Alan Roll. For 30 years the Oak Park man has made sure that skiers are safe at the Wrightwood resort. Roll spends at least a dozen days each winter season as a volunteer ski patrol.

Mardi Gras Ball will benefit charity
      The 17th annual Mardi Gras Ball, which benefits Community Conscience's Under One Roof, set a record attendance, according to chairman Ricki Mikkelsen. The ball, known for the size of its silent auction of several hundred offerings, attracted 400 guests and volunteers, said Mikkelsen, co-chair with Barbara Ashcraft.

Senior Congress remembers
      The fifth annual Senior Congress, hosted by the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation, focused on memory, Executive Director Karen Malatesta recalls.
