Students encouraged to attend babysitting training
      A baby sitter training class for teens ages 11 to 17 will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Fri., March 13 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., March 14 at the American Red Cross office, 2355 Portola Road, Ventura.

MathCounts team enters state finals
      Viewpoint's Middle School MathCounts team will compete in the California State Championships at UC Irvine on March 21. The four-person team of eighth-graders Evan Bernstein of West Hills, Chris Kimes of Westlake Village, Alexa Feuerman of Tarzana, and Madi Stine of Calabasas qualified for the state championships at the regional competition held Feb.

Scholarships available
      The Ventura County Chapter of the American Public Works Association is offering $500 to $1,000 scholarships for high school students entering college or university in an engineering/ public works-related major from any high school within the chapter membership region.

Born Learners are helpers
     CHILDREN ARE A DOG'S BEST FRIEND—Born Learners preschool and kindergarten students present donations for Guide Dogs of America to Bob, a guide-dog-in-training, after a recent fundraiser for the organization. Two men stomach Bombzoni challenge
      Two men took on the Super Bombzoni Challenge on Feb. 22 at Tony T's Winner NY Pizza, 30684 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills. The Super Bombzoni is a three-and-a-half-foot-long giant calzone stuffed with more than 84 ounces of rib eye steak grilled with fresh mushrooms, onions, green peppers and a blend of cheeses.

'Peter and the Wolf' in T.O.
      Performances To Grow On presents the Pushcart Players in their production of "Peter and the Wolf" at 4 p.m. Sat., March 7 in the Scherr Forum Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. This show is an adaptation of the traditional Russian folktale set to music by Sergei Prokofiev about the adventure of growing up.
