Eagle girls dominate playoff game but still come up short
      The Oak Park High girls' soccer team did everything but finish in its CIF-Southern Section Division V second-round playoff game against La Canada at home on Tuesday. Although the Eagles (11-8-5) completely dominated the match by out-shooting La Canada 28-2, they couldn't convert any scoring attempts and lost, 1-0.

      Just days before the official start of the season, Oak Park High's varsity baseball coaches were replaced. It's unclear why the change took place, but the`ousted coaches and the players' parents are unhappy about what occurred.

Boys' basketball team makes semifinals
      The Oaks Christian boys' basketball team made it look easy. Fueled by 19 points from senior guard Tyler McGrath and 15 points from senior forward Corey Ghilarducci, Oaks Christian never trailed in beating La Salle, 66-52, in a CIFSouthern Section Division IVA quarterfinal game Tuesday night at OCHS.

Patriots stymied in second round of soccer playoffs

Grapplers earn trip to Masters
      Fifteen wrestlers from the Marmonte League qualified for this weekend's CIF Masters Meet at Temecula. The event takes place Friday and Saturday. Area grapplers slated for action include Westlake's Jason Villavisencio, Calabasas' Randy Horowitz, and Ben Wolhapter and John Combs of Agoura.

Season ends for CHS basketball teams
Coyote boys struggle in second half vs. Harvard-Westlake
      Last Friday at Calabasas High, the Coyote boys' basketball team won the sprint but couldn't win the marathon. Although the Coyotes led Harvard-Westlake 26-20 with roughly six minutes remaining in the second quarter, CHS eventually ran out of gas and lost 86-66 in the second round of the CIFSouthern Section Division IIIA playoffs.

Area girls' hoops squads advance deep into playoffs
      Four local girls' basketball teams, including three from the Marmonte League, advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective CIFSouthern Section playoff brackets. Quarterfinal matchups were played Wednesday night. Semifinal games are slated for Saturday.

      In the second atbat of his second career college baseball game, Wake Forest freshman shortstop Shane Kroker hit a grand slam. It was a spectacular beginning for the 18-year-old Westlake High graduate, a three-year member of the Warrior varsity squad during his time with the program.

      Dustin Litvak, who coaches water polo at Agoura High and for the Los Angeles Water Polo Club, has been named a finalist for Positive Coaching Alliance's DoubleGoal Coach Award for his impact on youth athletes.
