Parents, please take ownership
It was reported that some cheerleaders were found to have (likely) been drinking at a party, and thereby violated a code of conduct they signed, initially resulting in suspension from cheerleading activities. The parents protested the fairness.

'Girls gone wild'
Seems Agoura Hills has its own version of "Girls Gone Wild" given an Acorn story about AHS cheerleaders having "a runin with alcohol." Now, I did not witness this incident, possess no first hand knowledge, and appreciate "innocent" until proven guilty.

Vote for Maurer
I want to congratulate Mary Sue Maurer, mayor of Calabasas, on her great leadership for the city. Under Mary Sue's term as mayor the city funds and supports two Chambers of Commerce, Agoura and Calabasas. Like the Agoura Chamber, Mary Sue also was an early supporter of the Heschel West Day School which will be built near Old Agoura.

Mayor taking too much credit
What's this "Mayor Maurer" business? Each council member is elected "mayor" for one year by the other council members. She just happens to have been elected this year. Unfortunately, the second paragraph of the absentee voter brochures mailed by Ms. Maurer states that she served as mayor for the past four years. That's simply untrue and consequently misleading.

Bozajian trusted for 12 years
James Bozajian has served Calabasas well for the last 12 years. He is fiscally conservative and supports local businesses that provide much of our tax revenue. He has participated in creating our general fund surplus of more than $20 million dollars. He also listens to the priorities of the residents and continues to support the acquisition of open space.

Ticket frenzy
Much has been written about the purported overzealous efforts of Calabasas deputies in traffic enforcement. For all of the people who wrote in thanking the Sheriff's Department's efforts, they are missing the point of the editorials.

Be careful what you ask for
In regards to Julie Freeman's letter on the police setting up traps to catch people violating the speed limit or running stop signs, I totally agree with her. Just the other day I was trying to sell her children and her children's friends drugs and the police set up a trap to catch me. Man, that is so annoying.

Crosswalk talk
Regarding your editorial of Feb. 5, you stated that "the law says a pedestrian must be allowed to traverse the crosswalk before a motorist can proceed." What section of the California Vehicle Code are you quoting?

Sympathy for dog owner
Regarding "Wanted: killer of Calabasas canine," Feb. 5, I first want to let Ann Hawley know my heart goes out to her. I have read to many times about people who bring an aggressive breed/dog to a dog park and a dog has been mauled or killed.

Please attend arts benefit
President Obama recently called for all Americans to spend time giving back to their communities. The upcoming Benefits for the Arts concert on Feb. 27 at the T.O. Civic Arts Plaza offers the chance for all of us to do just that.

HOA voting law undergoes a major change
I was told that the state Senate and state Assembly passed a bill which was signed into law by the governor, changing how members of homeowners associations will now cast their votes for candidates and how these votes will be counted.

Is peace possible?
In response to Arnold Prepsky and Amit Dembsk letters dated Jan. 15, is peace possible between Israelis and Palestinians when years of terror have been waged on both sides? There is plenty to blame on both sides—a military attack is not the solution.
