Valen-crime's Day
      Since my wife and I have a 5year-old, the two of us will not be having Valentine's Day dinner alone. And since misery loves company, we invited another family with the same predicament to join us. A dinner date was my wife's idea. She took over the planning.

Youth Naturalist Program scheduled
      Mountains Restoration Trust's Youth Naturalist Program will offer "Threatened and Endangered Species" for children ages 8 to 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sat., Feb. 14. Children will learn the reasons species become endangered, threatened or extinct. A guest speaker will give a presentation about the endangered Channel Island fox.

Roller hockey league opens registration
      The Tri-Valley Roller Hockey League is holding registration for youth, teen and adult roller hockey divisions through Feb. 20 for the spring 2009 season. The league is open to boys and girls of all abilities. All games and practices are held at Juan Bautista de Anza Park, 3701 Lost Hills Road, Calabasas. The spring season runs from through June 13.

Teen snowboard, ski trip slated
      The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services will host a Mountain High ski and snowboard trip for teens ages 10 to 17 on Mon., Feb. 16. The group will depart at 6 a.m. from the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., and return at 7 p.m.
