Relay for Life seeking team captains for event

Organizational wheels are in motion for the 2009 Agoura Relay for Life cancer walk-athon.

The April 25-26 event is held at Willow Elementary School in Agoura Hills.

Team captains are urgently needed, organizers say. Their goal is to sign up 80 teams by Feb. 5 and 120 teams by the time April arrives. Another team captain meeting will be March 5.

This year's theme is "Across the Universe: Imagine a Cure!"

Lights for a luminaria ceremony will be lit after sunset and placed side by side to create a "path of hope."

A community rally will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wed., Jan. 28 at the Westlake Village community room. An Agoura High School youth rally is scheduled for Feb. 18.

April 23 is registration night.

In just a couple of months the Relay for Life organizers will "paint the town purple" to raise awareness for their fundraising cause.

Relay for Life events help raise funds for the American Cancer Society each year across America.
