Behr Browers Architects Inc. in Westlake Village recently received three awards from the American Institute of Architects, Ventura County Chapter. Behr Browers Architects received awards for the Miller Family YMCA and Treat Sweets, which are both at Paraiso Shopping Center in Dos Vientos; and for the Center Stage theater in Fontana, Calif. For more than 22 years, Behr Browers Architects has designed dozens of projects throughout East Ventura County. The firm has also received other awards for projects such as the restoration of Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the architectural and sign design of Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Simi Valley. It's in the cards The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce will hold a Monte Carlo Night and Installation Gala from 6 p.m. to midnight Fri., Jan. 30 at the Calabasas Civic Center Founders Hall, 200 Civic Center Way, Calabasas. The event will include introductions of the 2009 board of directors, presentation of the Chairman's Award and the Bill Van Gieson Memorial Award for community service. Top honorees The Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce announces the selection of the 2008-09 Man and Woman of the Year, an honor bestowed annually by the Chamber since 1963. Tammie Helmuth, owner of Conejo Awards, is the Woman of the Year. Dennis Carpenter, chief of police for the Thousand Oaks Police Department, is the Man of the Year. Helmuth and Carpenter will be honored at the Chamber's 2009 Dancing with the Stars Recognition Dinner and Gala on Sat., Jan. 31 at the Reagan Library, Simi Valley.
