Oak Park's Arsht specializes in scoring goals

      Oak Park High boys' soccer player Alec Arsht has learned to expect the unexpected. Through the Eagles' first eight games, Arsht has been an offensive machine. Entering Wednesday night's game against Oaks Christian, the junior had already scored a teamleading eight goals. The high scoring total doesn't come as a surprise to Arsht.

      Since Westlake High junior Taylor Ignoto previously lived in Massachusetts, it's easy to forgive her for rooting for the Boston Celtics. When the NBA Finals took place between the Lakers and Celtics last June, however, Ignoto decided to keep her faith toward the green-and-white on the down-low.

      Atomix Sports, in association with Nike SPARQ Training, presents the 2009 baseball conditioning camp. Participants will receive professional instruction by certified Nike SPARQ master trainer Robert Steele. The focus is on developing a player's speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness.

      COYOTES MAKING NOISE— The Calabasas High freshman boys' soccer team defeated Thousand Oaks, 1-0, to win the Los Virgenes District/Conejo Valley Classic Tournament. Calabasas only allowed two goals during the entire event.
