Agoura Hills City Calendar

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services announces its upcoming events. Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills. For more information, call (818) 597-7361.

•An adult improv class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 26 to March 9. The class provides individualized instruction and teaches beginners the techniques for improvisation and performance. Cost is $89.

•Daddy 'N Me sports classes for children ages 2 to 4 and their parents will be held from 9 to 9:30 and from 9:45 to 10:15 Saturdays, Jan. 31 to March 14 at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, Agoura Hills. Cost is $42.

•Fencing classes for children and teens will be held Wednesdays, Jan. 28 to March 25. Classes are from 6:45 to 7:45 for children ages 6 to 10 and from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. for teens ages 11 to 17. Cost is $90 plus a $35 equipment rental fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

•Family Music Together classes for parents and their children ages 3 months to 2 years will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursdays, Jan. 29 to March 5. The class is designed to enhance development skills through bouncing, rocking, peek-a-boo songs, floor games, message activities and instrument play. Cost is $49.

•A MamaCare group for parents and their children up to age 3 will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 27 to March 17 and Fridays, Jan. 30 to March 20. The group allows mothers to share their experiences. Cost is $120.

•A Meditation and Mindful Breathing class for ages 16 and older will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 26 to March 9 at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site, 5464 Reyes Adobe Road, Agoura Hills. The class teaches breathing techniques to handle stressful situations. Cost is $100.

•My First Art Class for children ages 3 to 5 will be held from 3:15 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 26 to March 23. Students will work with paints, modeling compounds, oil pastels and watercolors. Cost is $60 plus a $12 lab fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

•Guitar workshops for teens and adults will be held Saturdays, Jan. 31 to March 17. Classes are from 4 to 4:45 p.m. for teens age 10 to 17 and from 5 to 5:50 p.m. for ages 18 and older. Both classes are for beginner to intermediate students. Cost is $85 plus a $15 nonrefundable lab fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

•A Zumba fitness class for adults ages 18 and older will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Jan. 26 to March 9. The class combines moves from salsa, cha cha, meringue, samba and belly dancing. Cost is $45.

•A Quickbooks training class will be held from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Mondays from Jan. 26 to March 9. The class is intended to help students organize their personal or business finances. Cost is $65.

•A Parent and Me Spanish class for parents and their children ages 2 to 4 will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursdays, Jan. 29 to March 5. The class will use music, crafts and games to introduce parents and children to elementary Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation. Cost is $45 plus a $10 nonrefundable lab fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

•A KidStage acting class for children ages 6 to 11 will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 28 to March 4. Cost is $75.

•A Kids on Canvas class will be held from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 26 to March 23. The class will teach painting techniques using non-toxic acrylic paints on canvas paper, canvas board and stretched canvas. Cost is $72 plus an $18 non-refundable lab fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.
