Las Virgenes Unified seeks school board candidates
Need Finders replacement
The Las Virgenes Unified School District is seeking a qualified candidate to temporarily fill the Board of Education vacancy left by Terilyn Finders, who recently resigned two years into her four-year term. The provisional post will run through November. According to Superintendent Donald Zimring, candidates interested in the volunteer position must be 18 years of age, a registered voter, and residing within the school boundaries. Candidates considering applying will attend three to five meetings per month, including daytime meetings, be familiar with current public education issues, and have prior experience serving on or reporting to a government board, Zimring said. Knowledge in areas of finance and budget are qualifications that will be helpful. Interested applicants must submit a letter of interest and include contact information, reasons for applying, confirmation of legal and other qualifications, a resume or curriculum vitae, and other background information the candidate wants included for consideration. The school board will vote on the provisional appointment by Jan. 20, and the appointee will be seated on the board immediately, Zimring said.
