Friendship Circle to host lectures for parents
      A series of free lectures for parents of children with special needs will be presented by the Conejo Valley Friendship Circle beginning Tues., Jan. 13. Registration is required for each lecture by calling (818) 865-2233.

      When Emily Werman stepped out onto the Staples Center basketball court during halftime at a recent Lakers game, she wasn't there to shoot hoops. Emily was to be named one of the Lakers Students of the Month, along with two other students and three teachers from the Los Angeles area.

Oak Park boy wins Disneyland prize
      DREAM COMES TRUE— Oak Park resident Daniel Rosen, 8, celebrates winning the Dream Suite prize at Disneyland's Year of a Million Dreams. The family enjoyed a night in the park's Dream Suite, the Grand Marshal spot in that day's Christmas parade, dinner for six at the Blue Bayou Restaurant, an after-hours park tour and a character breakfast.

      The Triunfo YMCA will hold the first meeting of its Model United Nations program at 6:30 p.m. today, Jan. 8 at Sumac Elementary School YMCA facility, 6050 Calmfield Ave., Agoura Hills. The program is for children in grade 6 to 8 in Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park.

      Orientation for the Ventura County International Pageants will be from 10 a.m. to noon Sat., Jan. 24 at the Courtyard Marriott, 1710 Newbury Road, Thousand Oaks. Contestants will compete in three age categories: Miss, ages 19 to 29; Teen, ages 13 to 18, and Junior Miss, ages 11 to 13.
