Triunfo workshops address water conservation

By Sophia Fischer sfischer@theacorn.com

The Triunfo Sanitation District has scheduled two meetings to help its customers learn how to save water. The agency is considering a mandatory water conservation plan that would go into effect if water supplies become inadequate.

The first meeting—7:00 p.m. Mon., Feb. 23 at Oak Park High School G9—will include a presentation by Don Kendall, general manager of the Calleguas Municipal Water District, on state and local water supplies. A draft of the mandatory water conservation rate structure will be discussed.

The second meeting, Sat., March 21, will focus on landscaping. Local landscape professionals will speak about establishing yards and gardens that require minimum watering. Time and location are to be determined.

The meetings were originally set for January but were rescheduled at the suggestion of Linda Parks, a Triunfo board member and Ventura County supervisor, who felt the meetings would be better attended if the district had more time to promote the workshops.
